On Thursday, February 2, State Senator Dave Thompson (SD 36-Lakeville, in CD 2) will introduce what is likely to become the single most important reform effort this legislative session, a bill to place before voters in November the Right-To-Work initiative. This bill will allow all employees hired for a job to decide whether or not they will join a union, rather than be forced to do so by union bosses intent on collecting more dues.
The positive impact of this amendment’s passing goes well beyond the interests of individual employees. According to the Center of the American Experiment, from 1969 to 2010, total employment grew by 141% in Right To Work states. In Minnesota, that percentage was only 102%.
Call your legislators and ask them to support Senator Thompson’s bill permitting Right To Work on November’s ballot!
