2024 Caucuses, Conventions and Elections
In 2024 Minnesotans will elect a US President, a US Senator, Congressmen, State Representatives and local officers. There is a sequence of Republican Party events leading up to the elections in November 2024.
You can participate in the process and have an impact. It starts with the Precinct Caucus in your local community.
Here is the schedule of events for Election Year 2024 in CD2
February 27th
Precinct Caucuses - The precinct caucus is the local meeting where you can express your opinions and help determine who will be the candidates for state offices Caucus attendees elect the precinct officers and the delegates to the Party Basic Political Operating Unit (BPOU) Convention. Caucus location information will be available here after December 22nd.
March 5th
Minnesota will hold a Presidential Primary Election on "Super Tuesday". The Minnesota Republican Party will determine which candidates will be on the ballot for the Primary Election. Minnesota delegates to the National Convention will support the winner of the primary election. You can vote early in-person or by mail - information here.
March 9th to April 16th
Window for BPOU Conventions - These conventions will endorse candidates for the State Senate and House. The BPOUs will choose delegates for the CD2 and State Conventions. Locations and dates will be posted as information becomes available.
April 27th to May 15th
Window for the CD2 Convention - Delegates from the BPOUs will meet at the Convention and will endorse a candidate for the House of Representatives. They will elect delegates for the State and National Conventions.
May 16th to May 18th
GOP State Convention - Delegates from the Congressional conventions will meet at St. Paul. They will endorse candidates for the national elections, elect delegates to the National Convention, and will review and approve the party platform.
July 15th to July 18th
Republican National Convention - The national GOP convention will be held in Milwaukee,.
August 13th
Minnesota State Primary Election
September 20th to November 4th
Vote by Mail or in person - You will be able to vote early - either by mail or in-person - with an absentee ballot. You can get instructions here.
November 4th
Election Day - If you haven't voted early it is time to go to the polls.
